Where: Herzl Museum on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.

The lectures will be delivered in Hebrew.

 

Yivsam Azgad:

Yivsam Azgad is a journalist, editor, author, and curator of art. Served as a senior editor in “Yedi’ot Akhronot” and “Ha’Aretz”. He was also director of the Weizmann Institute of Science publications department.

The subject: Science – a difficult language

On passing messages and information from the world of science to the world of ordinary people. Does this challenge arise from “technical complexity”? What is the place of curiosity and “academic freedom” in this aspect of communication? And who really sets the agenda in the scientific laboratory?

 

A series of five short lectures

Adi Orian, PhD – Translation of Byron into Hebrew in the 19th century.

Hagit Bat-Eliezer – Smiling translation between languages.

Einat Cooper – Challenges in literary translation and the role of culture in translation from Japanese into Hebrew.

Perry Zamek – Dealing with a source document that contains a forgery.

Arie Gus – Dilemmas of translation from Arabic into Hebrew: Language, religion, and politics.

1600–17:00: Registration

17:00-18:00: Lecture by Yivsam Azgad

18:00-19:00: Dairy evening dinner

19:00-20:00: Five short lectures

ITA members: 100 NIS

Nonmembers: 150 NIS

For participants in the online lectures:

ITA members: 20 NIS

Nonmembers: 40 NIS

If arriving to central bus station or the Navon train station in Jerusalem:

Take the light rail to Mount Herzl. The Rav-Kav card can be used.

If arriving by car:

There is a municipal parking lot at the entrance to Mount Herzl. Payment is via Pango / Cellopark.
