Lecture Evening in Haifa – March 10, with an optional tour of the German Colony and an online option
We are pleased to announce that the next Israel Translators Association event will take place in Haifa.
When: Thursday, March 10, 2022, between 16:15 – 20:00 hrs.

Bonus:
The lectures will be preceded by a guided tour of the German Colony in Haifa. This colony was established by German Templars in the second half of the 19th century, and was settled by them up to World War II.
Our venue, the Colony Hotel, resides in a building dating back to 1905.
The tour will start at 15:30 hrs. The meeting place is at the Colony Hotel.
The lectures will be delivered in Hebrew.
Prof. Gabriel Zoran:
Professor Emeritus of Hebrew and comparative literature in Haifa University. Dealt with the underlying theory of literature, and Greek, German, and Hebrew literature. See further details of publications in the Hebrew announcement.
The subject is: translation, interpretation, and what is in between.
The lecture will mainly address the difference between meaning and interpretation, and will claim that while a meaning of word or expression is an integral part of translation, interpretation is outside the translator’s expertise, and can only detract from the translation if it is included in it.
Dr. Eman Younis:
Lecturer of Arabic language and literature at Beit Berl. Expertise in digital literature.
The topic is introduction to digital literature.

19:00-20:00: Lecture by Dr. Eman Younis

Nonmembers: 150 NIS
Participation in the tour costs an extra 30 NIS.

You may cancel your registration and get a refund up to March 6. Later cancellations or non attendance a the event itself will not merit a refund.
Getting to the the place and parking:
By car: Waze recognizes the place.
There are several free parking lots near and behind the Colony Hotel, and on Anilevich St.
Buses: From the “Khof Carmel” central bus station, line 1 on the Metronit.
Frerquency: Every few minutes. Goes past the Colony Hotel on Ben-Gurion Blvd.
If coming by train: Get off at the “Ha’Shmona” station, at the end of Ben-Gurion Blvd. From there it’s a few minutes walk to the Colony Hotel.
