Eligibility Criteria

קריטריונים לזכאות

Recognition will be granted on the basis of experience and education, using a point formula covering various levels of education and professional experience. A recognized translator/interpreter/editor must:

Be an ITA member for at least one year before applying.
Accumulate 10 points, of which no more than 5 should be from education, and at least 3 from work experience.
Provide two written references from recent clients or employers, specifying the scope of the work completed.
Provide the names of three other clients or projects.
Sign the application form which includes consent to uphold the ITA Code of Ethics (Appendix 2).

הכרה תוענק על בסיס ניסיון והשכלה מקצועית, תוך שימוש בנוסחת ניקוד שתדרג רמות שונות של השכלה וניסיון מקצועי.

על המתרגם / מתורגמן / עורך:

להיות חבר באגודת המתרגמים בישראל במשך שנה אחת לפחות בטרם יגיש בקשה לקבלת תעודת ההכרה.
לצבור 10 נקודות, מתוכן לא יותר מ-5 נקודות שמקורן בהשכלתו המקצועית, ולפחות 3 נקודות שמקורן בניסיונו המקצועי.
למסור שתי המלצות בכתב מלקוחות או מעסיקים תוך פירוט היקף עבודה שהושלמה .
למסור את שמותיהם של שלושה לקוחות נוספים או לציין שלוש עבודות אחרות.
לחתום על טופס הבקשה המכיל בתוכו את ההסכמה לקוד האתי של האגודה (נספח 2).

5 years significant part-time experience in translation / interpreting / editing	10	ניסיון מקצועי של 5 שנים, במשרה חלקית לכל הפחות.
Foreign accreditation (ATA, ITI, NAATI, other)	10	תעודת הסמכה מאגודות מתרגמים זרות (כדוגמת ATA, ITI, NAATI וכו').

Instructions for Completing the Form הנחיות למילוי הטופס

Part 1 should be completed in both languages	על כל מועמד למלא חלק 1 בשתי השפות.
Parts 2-7 must be filled in by all applicants in at least one language.	על כל מועמד למלא את חלקים 2-7 בשפה אחת לפחות.
In part 2, you may apply for recognition in up to 3 language pairs for translating / interpreting and two languages for editing (with references for each).	בחלק 2, ניתן לבקש הכרה עבור עד 3 צמדי שפות לתרגום / מתורגמנות ושתי שפות עריכה (תוך הגשת המלצות עבור כל אחד).
In part 4, please attach clear, complete photocopies of degrees / diploma.	בחלק 4, יש לספק העתקים ברורים ושלמים של תעודות ותארים.

In part 6, you are asked to submit two signed references (preferably from your biggest clients) and names of 3 other clients that can be contacted if necessary. Please inform these three you wish to use them as a reference. For the signed references, the Appendix contains both a Hebrew and an English version of the reference letter. Please send it to your clients accordingly. For their convenience, you may complete some of the information on the form before they sign (since you may have more details on the scope of work, for example). נספח 2 - קוד התנהגות מקצועית ועסקית של אגודת המתרגמים בישראל

I. כמתרגם/ת, כמתורגמן/ית ו/או כעורך/ת, אני מודע/ת לכך שאני מהווה גשר להעברת רעיונות משפה אחת לאחרת ומתרבות אחת לרעותה, ולפיכך אני מחויב/ת לסטנדרטים גבוהים של ביצוע, התנהגות מוסרית, ושל התנהלות עסקית.

1. אשאף לתרגם את המסר המקורי בנאמנות. אני מכיר/ה בכך שלצורך השגת רמה כזו של מצוינות נדרשות התכונות הבאות:

א. שליטה בשפת היעד ברמה מקבילה לזו של דובר ילידי משכיל;

ב. ידע מעודכן בתחום המדובר ובמונחים הרלוונטיים לו, הן בשפת המקור והן בשפת היעד;

ג. גישה למקורות מידע ולכלי עזר, והיכרות עם כלי העבודה המקצועיים המתאימים;

ד. השקעה מתמשכת של מאמצים לשיפור הכישורים והידע שלי, להרחבתם ולחיזוקם.

2. אהיה כן בדבר כישוריי ויכולותיי, ולא אקבל על עצמי כל משימה שאינני מוכשר/ת למלאה כהלכה, או שלא אוכל למלאה במקצועיות הנאותה במסגרת הזמן הנתון.

6. אכבד כל קשר עסקי הקיים בין הלקוח שלי לבין לקוחותיו, ואמנע מלהתערב בכל קשר מסוג זה.

7. אשתמש בלקוח כממליץ רק אם אוכל למסור את שמו של אדם היכול להעיד על איכותה הכללית של עבודתי, ורק בתנאי שהלקוח האמור נתן את הסכמתו לשמש כממליץ.

II. כמי שמעסיק מתרגמים, מתורגמנים או עורכים, או משמש כקבלן של בעלי מקצוע אלו, אשמור במסגרת העסק שלי על אמות המידה שפורטו לעיל. בנוסף, אני רואה את עצמי מחויב/ת לדרכי ההתנהלות המתוארות להלן במסגרת יחסיי עם מתרגמים, מתורגמנים ועורכים:

1. אשאף להגיע להבנות ברורות עם מתרגמים, מתורגמנים ועורכים, ואני מכיר/ה בכך שרצוי לנסח את הדברים בכתב ולהבהיר את ציפיותיי לפני תחילת העבודה.

2. אצמד לתנאים המוסכמים וללוח זמני התשלומים שנקבע מראש, ולא אשנה את תיאור המשימה לאחר תחילת העבודה אלא אם נעשה הדבר בהסכמה הדדית בכתב.

3. אפנה ישירות למתרגם/ת על מנת לנסות לפתור כל סכסוך או חילוקי דעות. לא אבטל הסכם באופן שרירותי, או אעכב תשלום, ללא סיבה טובה. באם מגבלות הזמן יאפשרו זאת, אתן למתרגם/ת הזדמנות הוגנת לתקן כל פגם או שגיאה מוכחים בעבודה שהגיש/ה.

4. לא אשתמש בהמלצות שסיפקו מתרגמים או מתורגמנים, או בדוגמאות מעבודתם, על מנת להשתתף במכרזים, או למען קידום העסק שלי, מבלי לקבל את הסכמתם, ומבלי שאתכוון בתום לב להשתמש בשירותיהם.

Appendix 2 – Code of Professional Conduct and Business Practices - ITA

I. As a translator, interpreter and/or editor, a bridge for ideas from one language to another and one culture to another, I commit myself to high standards of performance, ethical behavior, and business practices.

I will endeavor to translate and/or interpret the original message faithfully. I recognize that ideally such a level of excellence requires:
1. mastery of the target language, at a level equivalent to that of an educatednative speaker;
2. up to date knowledge of the topic and relevant terminology in both source and target languages;
3. access to information resources and auxiliary tools and familiarity with appropriate professional tools;
4. ongoing efforts to improve, broaden and strengthen my skills and knowledge.
I will be truthful about my qualifications and abilities and will not accept any assignments for which I am not properly qualified or which it is unlikely that I will be able to complete in a professional manner within the given time frame.
I recognize the importance of a clear understanding with the client, and the desirability of setting out the terms of collaboration in writing. I will adhere to the terms as agreed.
I will inform my clients of any difficulties I am unable to resolve, and we will decide together how to proceed.
I will safeguard the interests of my clients as my own and divulge no obviously confidential information, and am aware that clients may condition my work on the signing of an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
I will respect and refrain from interfering with any business relationship between my client and my client's client.
I will use a client as a reference only if I can provide the name of someone who can testify to the general quality of my work, and if said client has granted his/her consent to be used as reference.

II. As an employer or contractor of translators, interpreters and/or editors, I will uphold the above standards in my business. I further commit myself to the following practices with translators, interpreters and editors:

I will endeavor to have a clear understanding with translators, interpreters and editors, and I recognize the desirability of putting matters down in writing and stating my expectations prior to work.
I will adhere to agreed terms and payment schedules, and will not change job descriptions after work has begun unless by common written consent.
I will deal directly with the translator or interpreter to try to solve any dispute. I will not arbitrarily cancel the agreement or withhold payment without good cause. Time constraints permitting, I will give the translator fair opportunity to correct any proven fault in the work submitted.
I will not use other translators' or interpreters' credentials and/or work samples in bidding or promoting my business without their consent or without the bona fide intention to use their services.
